Pregis receives FSC Chain of Custody Mix certification for Easypack paper

Pregis LLC, a leading protective packaging materials and automated systems manufacturer, has received a Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Chain of Custody, FSC Recycled certification for its Easypack paper portfolio. The company has been granted FSC Certification Code No. SCS-COC-006929.

The certification is for 100% recycled-content, single and multiply-paper produced at its Plymouth, Indiana facility. The paper, which ranges from 30-pound single ply to 45/45 pound multi-ply, is primarily used in conjunction with Easypack by Pregis machines to produce void-fill, cushioning and blocking/bracing protective packaging. It can be molded to the shape of just about any product from fragile glassware to heavy industrial products such as automotive parts or plumbing supplies. The paper packaging is both lightweight and strong, helping to secure products in place during transit.

“Pressure continues to increase for manufacturers to use packaging materials that address environmental concerns. Providing Pregis customers with products that meet tough FSC certification criteria is just one way we help them achieve their environmental objectives,” said Clint Smith, director of sustainable packaging, Pregis.

The FSC chain of custody (COC) is the path taken by products from the forest, or in the case of recycled materials from the moment when the material is reclaimed, to the point where the product is sold with an FSC claim and/or it is finished and FSC labelled. The COC includes each stage of sourcing, processing, trading, and distribution where progress to the next stage of the supply chain involves a change of product ownership.
